About the Journal

Information:

Journal of Primary Health Care (Northeastern Edition) is published by the Center for Health Service Support Center 7, Department of Health Support Services, Ministry of Public Health. It has been in continuous publication since 1985. The journal serves as a platform for disseminating printed works encompassing knowledge management, academic contributions, and scientific research in the field of health sciences. Its primary audience includes medical and public health professionals, as well as individuals with an interest in health-related matters. The journal acts as a conduit for bridging knowledge pertaining to healthcare systems with various stakeholders, including relevant organizations and affiliated entities.

Objectives:

  1. To serve as a repository for academic works and research in the field of health sciences and related content.
  2. To disseminate knowledge, academic works, and research findings of medical professionals, public health practitioners, researchers, and interested individuals.
  3. To enhance the quality of academic works and research conducted by the Center for Development of Health Data in the Northeast Region and its health network partners.
  4. To establish a high-quality and standard academic journal in the field of health sciences.
  5. To promote the academic works of the Center for Development of Health Data in the Northeastern Edition and its health network partners.

Review Process: Each article will undergo a review process by at least two qualified experts in the field, following a double-blind review format where both the reviewers and the authors remain anonymous to each other.

Types of Articles: Academic articles, Research papers, and Innovation articles.

Language Accepted for Publication: Abstract in English, Text in English or Thai

Publication Frequency: The journal is published three times a year, with one issue every four months, as follows: Issue 1 (January - April), Issue 2 (May - August), and Issue 3 (September - December).

Journal Format:

  1. The journal follows a general academic style but incorporates images in sections not directly related to academic content.
  2. The dimensions of each issue are 21.0 x 28.7 cm. Each issue contains no more than 200 pages and is published in electronic format as an E-journal.

Guidelines for Journal Management:

To ensure the quality and standardization of the Primary Health Care Journal (Northeastern Edition), the editorial board has established the following guidelines for operational procedures:

  1. Regularly updating the editorial board to ensure comprehensive coverage of academic works in health sciences and related fields. The editorial board comprises members from various sectors, including within the Northeastern Regional Center for Primary Health Care Development, departments and agencies under the Ministry of Public Health, and scholars from universities both domestically and internationally. Additionally, qualified experts from various institutions are invited to serve as reviewers for original submissions to the Primary Health Care (Northeastern Edition).
  2. The Primary Health Care Journal (Northeastern Edition) welcomes submissions from scholars across all fields related to health sciences. Submitted manuscripts must adhere to the journal's formatting guidelines and publication ethics. Authors are required to ensure that their work has not been previously published elsewhere. Detailed instructions for manuscript preparation and ethical guidelines can be found on the journal's website or in the first issue of each annual volume.
  3. The journal adheres to ethical principles in publishing academic articles. Each submitted manuscript undergoes the following review process:
  • 3.1 Initial screening by in-house academic experts and journal management team members. Incomplete submissions will be returned to authors for revision and resubmission.
  • 3.2 Manuscripts passing the initial screening are forwarded to the editorial board for quality assessment and selection of appropriate reviewers.
  • 3.3 Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two peer reviewers, who are experts in the relevant academic field. Peer reviewers are selected from organizations independent of the authors' affiliations. Reviewers' identities and affiliations are kept confidential.
  • 3.4 Peer reviewers receive guidance from the journal's editorial team on evaluating manuscripts according to established criteria. Reviewers provide feedback to the editorial board for further action, including one of the following:
  • (1) Evaluate whether the article is of high quality and suitable for publication without significant revisions.
  • (2) Assess if the article is of moderate quality and can be improved. It may be considered for publication after revisions have been made based on constructive feedback, particularly on essential aspects, to notify the authors to proceed with revisions accordingly.
  • (3) Determine if the article lacks quality, fails to contribute new knowledge, and is not suitable for publication.
  1. Once the Peer Reviewers have evaluated the manuscript, they will send their feedback along with the reviewed manuscript back to the editorial office of the Primary Health Care Journal (Northeastern Regional).
  2. The Editorial Board will compile the comments and suggestions from both Peer Reviewers and coordinate with the authors to communicate the review outcomes and guide them through any necessary revisions. In cases where revisions are required, authors will not be informed of the identities of the Peer Reviewers.
  3. Manuscripts that are deemed complete will undergo swift processing for publication. The editorial office of the Primary Health Care Journal (Northeastern Edition) will notify the authors in advance about the specific issue in which their manuscript will be published.
  4. Articles ready for publication will be formatted according to the journal's guidelines. Subsequently, the editorial office of the Primary Health Care Journal (Northeastern Edition) will send the final draft to the authors for a final review of accuracy and completeness. Upon receiving approval, the manuscript will be assigned page numbers and proceed for publication.

Preparing the Manuscript: For preparing original manuscripts, though many sections are also applicable to other types of articles, interested parties can refer to the formatting guidelines provided in previously published articles of the journal.

  • Title: The title should be concise and reflect the main objective of the study. It should not exceed 100 characters and must be provided in both Thai and English languages.
  • Author's Name: The author's name should be provided in both Thai and English languages (no abbreviations). Affiliation or workplace should be mentioned, along with the author's email address for contact.
  • Abstract: The abstract should follow the structured format of the article, including Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion. It should be approximately 250-300 words long, written in clear and concise language, avoiding abbreviations. The abstract must be provided in both Thai and English languages.
  • Keywords: Keywords should be listed at the end of the abstract in both Thai and English languages. They should serve as searchable terms and follow the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terms of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
  • Introduction: The introduction section should provide reasoning leading to the study, explaining the problem, nature, and scope, leading to the necessity of the research to address the problem or answer the questions posed. If there are necessary theories, they can be introduced here but should not review literature unrelated to the study's objectives. The study's objectives should be summarized at the end of the introduction.
  • Methods: The methods section should outline the study's design, sample groups, sampling methods, interventions, tools or equipment used for quantitative or qualitative data collection, data analysis methods, and statistical tools used. Approval from the research ethics committee should also be mentioned if applicable.
  • Results: The results section should present findings in a clear and straightforward manner, using tables or graphs for complex data. Interpretation of findings should avoid repeating numerical data unless crucial, and focus on explaining and comparing with previously stated hypotheses.
  • Discussion: The discussion section should critically analyze study results in line with the research objectives or deviations from previous works. It should explain any significant differences and offer preliminary suggestions based on available experiences or data, aimed at clarifying unique aspects for future research.
  • Tables, Figures, and Graphs: Each article should include a suitable number of tables, figures, or graphs, ranging from 1 to 5. Each should be numbered and titled above. Images should be clear and can include diagrams, illustrations, photographs, or computer-generated graphics. They should be submitted as separate files if included in the article.
  • References: References should be compiled according to the American Psychological Association 7th edition (APA) citation style and listed at the end of the article. Citations in the text should correspond to those in the reference list at the end of the article. The format of the article should adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Article Printing:
  • Utilize Microsoft Word for article composition.
  • The length of the article should not exceed 12 pages of A4
  1. Font Style:
  • Implement the TH SarabanPSK font style.
  • Headings should be in 16-point bold font.
  • Body text should be in 16-point regular font.
  1. Usage of Numerals:
  • Apply Arabic numerals throughout the article.

Submitting an article can be done through the following methods:

1. Online Submission:

  • Submit your article via the online system at https://thaidj.org/index.php/pjne/index.

2. Physical Submission:

  • Prepare your article in Microsoft Word format and include it on a CD-ROM.
  • Format the CD-ROM in official government document style.
  • Clearly indicate the name, address, telephone number, and email of the author(s).

The Editorial Board will review articles based on the specified criteria, and authors will be notified of the outcome of the review process after their submission has been received.

Responsibilities of the Authors:

  1. Authors must demonstrate honesty, integrity, and ethical conduct in conducting research and writing research reports.
  2. Authors must certify that the work written is based on true facts from the study, without distorting data or providing false information.
  3. Authors must reference the works of others cited in their own work.
  4. Authors must not plagiarize the work of others.
  5. Authors are responsible for their work and must certify that the work has never been published or is under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  6. Authors must clearly specify the names of all co-authors, their roles, and the extent of their responsibilities if not solely written by the author.
  7. Authors must disclose the funding sources that supported the research.
  8. In case of withdrawal or cancellation of the article after it has been reviewed by peer reviewers, the author must pay a review fee of 3,000
  9. In the event of violations, especially of points 2, 3, 4, and 5, the journal reserves the right to suspend publication for a minimum of 3 years, and the journal will notify the affiliated institution or relevant authorities, depending on the case.
  10. Articles published in the Journal of Primary Health Care  (Northeastern Regional) are considered the work and responsibility of the authors, not the responsibility of the editorial board in any way.
